From my ancestry I belong to the Stewart Clan.
The Stewart logo includes the Latin Inscription:
Virecit Vulnere Virtus
which means COURAGE GROWS STRONG AT A WOUND
This is the motto of The Stewarts of Galloway and the bird is a Pelican which plucks its breast in order to produce blood to feed its young. There are several mythologies concerning the sacred pelican.
My Celtic Guide, without my knowing it, supported me for so many years and accompanied me to Scotland on several occasions, including helping me when I worked as a Secondary School Teacher in Argyll for nearly 4 years. Later I was to discover so much more about the Celts when I studied a spiritual development course in Wales entitled The Celtic Way.
There are many books and groups who concentrate on the Shamanic Healing/”Wounded Healer” theme and I have also worked with a Shaman in connection with my ancestry.
I do find it apt that the motto I discover from my Celtic heritage should include the promise that we all grow stronger out of our wounds. I hope you find this equally inspiring on your soul journey.
